নিজের মতো করে ঘর সাজাতে বরাবরই ভালো লাগত তার। নিজের ব্যবহার্য জিনিসগুলোকে একটু নিজের মতো করে সাজিয়ে নিতেন সবসময়। সেখান থেকেই শুরু। ঠিক করলেন এই কাজটিকেই পেশা হিসেবে গ্রহণ করবেন। তিনি আদিবা নাসরিন জাহান। নিজের ইচ্ছাকে বাস্তবে রূপ দিতে শুরু করলেন ইনক্রিয়েভা। অফিশিয়ালি ইনক্রিয়েভার যাত্রা শুরু ২০১২ সালের শেষের দিকে। আদিবা হোম ম্যানেজমেন্ট অ্যান্ড হাউজিংয়ে অনার্স এবং মাস্টার্স করেছেন ন্যাশনাল কলেজ অব হোম ইকনমিক্স লালমাটিয়া ঢাকা থেকে। এখন ইন্টেরিওর ডিজাইনে লেখাপড়া করছেন। নিজের পছন্দের বিষয় নিয়ে পড়াশোনা করতে পারছেন তাই আনন্দের সাথে পড়ছেন আর কাজ করছেন বলে জানালেন তিনি। জানালেন কাজের ক্ষেত্রে সব থেকে বড় অনুপ্রেরণা স্বামী, মা’সহ তার পরিবার প্রতিটি মানুষ। এ ছাড়া তিনি তার ক্রেতাদের কাছ থেকে অনেক অনুপ্রেরণা পান। তাদের অনুপ্রেরণাই তাকে এগিয়ে নিয়ে যাচ্ছে বলে মনে করেন তরুণ এই উদ্যোক্তা। ইনক্রিয়েভাতে মূলত ঘর সাজানোর নানা জিনিসপত্র বিক্রয় করেন তিনি। চাদর, লাম্পশেড, কুশন, ব্রোচ বা হিজাব পিন—এগুলোই তিনি বেশি বিক্রয় করে থাকেন। তবে সামনে আরও কিছু প্রোডাক্ট যোগ হবে বলে জানালেন আদিবা। যারা নিজেকে একটু  আলাদাভাবে প্রকাশ করতে চান, তারাই তার ক্রেতা বলে জানালেন আদিবা। তরুণ এই নারী উদ্যোক্তা মনে করেন, এই কাজে যুক্ত হলে ব্যস্ততা হবে নিত্যসঙ্গী! তবে নিজের মতো করে কোনো কাজ করতে গেলে ব্যস্ততা থাকেই। ব্যস্ততার সাথে মানিয়ে নিয়ে কাজ করে যেতে হবে, তবেই সাফল্য পাওয়া যাবে। এছাড়া, এই কাজের সবচেয়ে ভালো দিক হলো, নিজের সৃজনশীলতা প্রকাশের সুযোগ প্রচুর এখানে। নিজের আত্মবিশ্বাসকে কাজে লাগানোর জন্য আর নিজেকে প্রমাণ করতে এই পেশায় আসা প্রয়োজন বলে তিনি মনে করেন। সফলতা পেতে হলে ইনক্রিয়েভাকে আরও অনেকটা পথ পাড়ি দিতে হবে। সে পথ পাড়ি দিতে বদ্ধপরিকর আদিবা। আদিবার মতে, প্রতিটি মানুষের নিজস্ব কোনো না কোনো বৈশিষ্ট্য থাকে, সেটা যেকোনো গুণ বা যোগ্যতা হতে পারে। সেটাকে যথাযথভাবে কাজে লাগানো উচিত। তরুণরা যদি এই কাজটিকে ভালোবাসে তাহলে আর কোনো কিছু না ভেবে কাজে নেমে পড়ার পরামর্শ দিলেন তিনি। তবে কাজে নামার পর সেই কাজে লেগে থাকতে হবে এবং মাঝপথে এসে বাদ দেওয়া যাবে না। আদিবা জানালেন, তার ভবিষ্যত্ স্বপ্নের কথা, ‘আমি আমার সবধরনের সৃজনশীলতাকে কাজে লাগতে চাই এবং ইনক্রিয়েভাকে সেভাবেই তৈরি করতে চাই।’ কাস্টমারদের সন্তুষ্টি, অনুপ্রেরণা ও শুভ কামনাকেই পুরস্কার ভেবে কাজ করে যেতে চান তরুণ প্রজন্মের সম্ভাবনাময়ী এই নারী উদ্যোক্তা।

গার্হস্থ্য অর্থনীতি কলেজ  মেয়েদের একটি পেশাভিত্তিক শিক্ষা প্রতিষ্ঠান। ১৯৬১ সালে আমেরিকার ফোর্ড ফাউন্ডেশন ও যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের ওকলাহামা স্টেট ইউনিভার্সিটির সহায়তায় ঢাকায় গার্হস্থ্য অর্থনীতি কলেজ স্থাপিত হয়। প্রথমে এটি ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের বিজ্ঞান ও পরবর্তীকালে জীব বিজ্ঞান অনুষদের অধীনে একটি উপাদানকল্প কলেজ হিসেবে কার্যক্রম শুরু করে। এই কলেজের একাডেমিক দিক তত্ত্বাবধান করত ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় এবং আর্থিক বিষয়াদি সমন্বয় করার দায়িত্ব ছিল পূর্ব পাকিস্তান সরকারের। গ্রাজুয়েশন কোর্সের সিলেবাস ও নির্দেশিকা তৈরি করা হতো ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়, লাহোর হোম ইকনমিক্স কলেজ এবং করাচি হোম ইকনমিক্স কলেজের কোর্সসমূহের অনুসরণে। ওকলাহামা স্টেট ইউনিভার্সিটির হোম ইকনমিক্স ডিপার্টমেন্টের ডীন ফোর্ড ফাউন্ডেশনের প্রতিনিধি হিসেবে কলেজটির একাডেমিক নির্দেশকের দায়িত্ব পালন করতেন। বর্তমানে ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় এবং গণপ্রজাতন্ত্রী বাংলাদেশ সরকারের  শিক্ষা মন্ত্রণালয় যৌথভাবে এ দায়িত্ব পালন করছে।

প্রতিষ্ঠাকাল থেকেই কলেজে উচ্চ মাধ্যমিক ও স্নাতক এবং ১৯৬৩ সাল থেকে স্নাতকোত্তর পর্যায়ে পাঠদান শুরু হয়। ১৯৭৩ সালে স্নাতক ও স্নাতকোত্তর পর্যায়ের পাশাপাশি স্নাতক সম্মান (গার্হস্থ্য অর্থনীতি) কোর্স চালু হয়। বিষয়বস্ত্তর মান ও পরিমাণ বৃদ্ধি, যুগের চাহিদা পূরণ এবং বিশ্বের উন্নত ও উন্নয়নশীল দেশসমূহের সাথে সামঞ্জস্য রক্ষার জন্য ১৯৮৫-৮৬ শিক্ষাবর্ষে সমন্বিত গার্হস্থ্য অর্থনীতি থেকে ৫টি বিভাগে ৫টি সম্মান কোর্স চালু করা হয়। বিভাগগুলি হলো খাদ্য ও পুষ্টি বিজ্ঞান, গৃহব্যবস্থাপনা ও গৃহায়ণ, শিশুবিকাশ ও সামাজিক সম্পর্ক, ব্যবহারিক শিল্পকলা এবং বস্ত্র পরিচ্ছদ ও বয়ন শিল্প। ২০০২-২০০৩ শিক্ষাবর্ষ থেকে ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের সম্মান কোর্সে অনুরূপ ৪ বছর মেয়াদি স্নাতক সম্মান কোর্স এবং ১ বছর মেয়াদি স্নাতকোত্তর কোর্স চালু করা হয়। সম্মান শ্রেণিতে ভর্তির জন্য ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের নিয়ম অনুসরণ করে প্রতিযোগিতামূলক পরীক্ষা ও মেধা তালিকার ভিত্তিতে ভর্তি করা হয়। উপরোক্ত ৫টি বিষয়েই শিক্ষার্থীকে তত্ত্বীয়, ব্যবহারিক ও বিভিন্ন গবেষণাধর্মী বিষয়ে শিক্ষাদান করা হয় এবং ব্যক্তিগত উন্নয়নের পাশাপাশি শিক্ষার্থীকে  পরিবার, সমাজ ও পেশার জন্য প্রস্ত্তত করা হয়। গার্হস্থ্য অর্থনীতির ৫টি বিষয়ের শিক্ষা পাঁচ ধরনের পেশার দ্বার উন্মোচন করে।

খাদ্য ও পুষ্টি বিজ্ঞান বিভাগের ছাত্রীরা কমিউনিটি নিউট্রিশন, থেরাপিউটিক নিউট্রিশন, পাবলিক হেলথ এন্ড নিউট্রিশন, ডায়াটেটিকস, উচ্চতর পুষ্টি বিজ্ঞান, গবেষণা, খাদ্য বিজ্ঞান, খাদ্য রসায়ন ইত্যাদি বিষয় সম্পর্কে জ্ঞান লাভ করে বিভিন্ন পুষ্টি বিষয়ক প্রতিষ্ঠান/ হাসপাতালে পুষ্টিবিদ ও পথ্যবিদের পেশা গ্রহণ করতে পারে। এছাড়া সরকারি ও বেসরকারি প্রতিষ্ঠানে, কমিউনিটি পর্যায়ে ও জাতীয় এবং আন্তর্জাতিক ক্ষেত্রে পুষ্টিবিদ ও পথ্যবিদ হিসাবে বিষয়ভিত্তিক শিক্ষকতা, স্বাস্থ্য ও পুষ্টি, গবেষণা, পুষ্টি পরামর্শ, মেনু প্ল্যানিং ও ক্যাটারিং ম্যানেজমেন্টভিত্তিক পেশায় প্রবেশ করতে পারে।

গৃহব্যবস্থাপনা ও গৃহায়ণ বিভাগের পাঠ্যক্রম একজন ছাত্রীকে পরিবেশ, অর্থনীতি ও সমাজের সঙ্গে সঙ্গতি রেখে সুষ্ঠু ব্যবস্থাপনার মাধ্যমে লক্ষ্য অর্জনে সফলতা দেয়। এই পাঠ্যক্রমে শিক্ষার্থী বিভিন্ন শিক্ষা প্রতিষ্ঠান, আর্থিক প্রতিষ্ঠান,  এনজিও, ব্যবসায় প্রশাসন ও পরিবেশ সংক্রান্ত প্রতিষ্ঠান এবং ইন্টেরিয়র ডিজাইন ইনস্টিটিউট-এ কাজ করার সুযোগ পায়।

শিশুবিকাশ ও সামাজিক সম্পর্ক বিভাগের একজন ছাত্রী শিশুর সকল চাহিদা বুঝে শিশুকে সেরা সম্পদে তৈরি করার শিক্ষা পায়। শিক্ষার্থী শিশুদের শারীরিক, মানসিক ও বুদ্ধিবৃত্তিক বিকাশ এবং শিশু অধিকার রক্ষাসহ শিশুদের সার্বিক কল্যাণে নিয়োজিত জাতীয় ও আন্তর্জাতিক পর্যায়ের সকল প্রতিষ্ঠানে কাজ করার যোগ্যতা অর্জন করে। এছাড়া শিশু কাউন্সেলিং, নীতি নির্ধারণ, ইসিডি কার্যক্রম, শিশুর সামাজিক সমস্যা এবং মা ও শিশু স্বাস্থ্য বিষয়ে কাজ করার সুযোগ পায়।

ব্যবহারিক শিল্পকলা বিভাগের অন্তর্ভুক্ত বিষয়গুলি হলো বাংলাদেশের ঐতিহ্যবাহী শিল্প, নকশা, বুনন, প্রিন্টিং, মৃৎশিল্প, পাট শিল্প ইত্যাদি। শিক্ষার্থী এই সকল বিষয়ে পাঠ গ্রহণ করে সকল পর্যায়ের শিক্ষা প্রতিষ্ঠান, সমাজসেবা সংস্থা, কুটির শিল্প, মৃৎশিল্প ও তাঁত শিল্প প্রতিষ্ঠান এবং নক্শা সেন্টারে কাজ করার সুযোগ পায়। বস্ত্র পরিচ্ছদ ও বয়ন শিল্প বিভাগের বস্ত্র ও পোশাক শিল্প বিষয় একটি কর্মমুখী শিক্ষা যা শিক্ষার্থীর আত্মকর্মসংস্থানের জন্য অত্যন্ত উপযোগী।

বিশেষায়িত কলেজ হওয়ায় ঢাকা শহরসহ বাংলাদেশের প্রত্যন্ত অঞ্চলের বিপুল সংখ্যক ছাত্রী এই কলেজে অধ্যয়নে আগ্রহী থাকে। বর্তমানে প্রায় ৫ হাজার ছাত্রী এখানে অধ্যয়ন করছে। প্রায় ৬০ জন শিক্ষক এখানে কর্মরত আছেন। লেখাপড়ার পাশাপাশি এ কলেজের ছাত্রীরা সাংস্কৃতিক কর্মকান্ড, খেলাধুলা, গার্ল ইন রোভার ও বিএনসিসি কার্যক্রমে অংশগ্রহণ করে।  [লায়লা আরজুমান্দ বানু]

Home Economics College


Home Economics College was established in Dhaka in 1961 by the then East Pakistan Government in cooperation with Ford Foundation and Oklahama State University of the United States to develop a female profession-based educational institution. Initially it started functioning as an affiliated college under the science faculty of Dhaka University and later it was brought under the Biological Science Faculty. The university used to supervise the academic aspects, whereas the East Pakistan Government coordinated the financial matters. The syllabus of graduation course and instruction sheets were prepared following the courses of Dhaka University, Lahore Home Economics College and Karachi Home Economics College. The Dean of Home Economics Department, Oklahama State University discharged the responsibility of the academic director of the college as the representative of Ford Foundation. At present Dhaka University and the Ministry of Education is carrying out the responsibilities jointly.

At the outset, the college offered intermediate and graduation courses. From 1963, post-graduation programmes were introduced. In 1973, beside graduation and post-graduation programmes, honours course in Home Economics was introduced. From 1985-86 session, instead of that integrated Home Economics Honours Course, honours courses in newly created five departments were introduced. The departments, Food and Nutrition, House Keeping and Housing, Child Development and Social Relations, Applied Fine Arts and Textile, Costume and Weaving, were created to keep similarity with the standard and volume of course contents of other developed and developing nations and to fulfill the growing demand. Like Dhaka University four-year degree honours courses and one-year post graduation courses in these disciplines were introduced here from 2002-2003 session. Girl students are selected in honours courses through competitive admission test and on the basis of merit list as per rule of Dhaka University. Students received theoretical, practical and research-oriented education in all the five departments. One object was to prepare each of them eligible for their own family, society and profession beside their individual improvement. As a result, the five subjects of Home Economics College create job opportunities for female students.

The students of Food and Nutrition Department acquire knowledge on Community Nutrition, Therapeutic Nutrition, Public Health and Nutrition, Dietetics, Higher Nutrition Science, Research, Food Science, Food Chemistry etc for becoming professional Nutritionlists and Dieticians in hospitals and nutrition related institutions. Moreover, students qualified from this department can make their career as teachers, dieticians, menu planners and catering managers in public and private organisations at community, national and international levels.

A student of Child Development and Social Relations disciplines is taught the ways and means to assess the individual need of every baby for rearing up him or her as a best potential resource. She acquired knowledge and competency to engage herself in all national and international organisations for the welfare of children including their physical, mental and intellectual growth and for ensuring child rights. Besides they get jobs to render services in the fields of Child Counselling, Policy formulation, Early Childhood Development Programme, Social problems of children and Mother and Child Health Care.

Traditional arts, design, weaving, printing, pottery, jute goods making etc are taught in the Applied Fine Arts Department. Students after completing education in this discipline are provided in all sorts of educational institutions, social service organisations, cottage industries, pottery homes, handloom production centres and other concerned design centres.

Exceptionally, students of Textile, Costume and Weaving Department do not run after jobs, as their professional education skill and excellence tend them to be self-employed.

A large number of girl students from all over the country including far-flung areas as well as Dhaka metropolis want to get admission in this specialized college. At present, there are five thousand students and sixty teachers in this college. Food & Nutrition course

Four Year B.Sc. Honours Course In Food & Nutrition collected from website College Of Home Economics, Azimpur
The  for B.Sc. (Honours) course in Food & Nutrition shall be offered over the period of four academic years. Students who have passed her H.S.C. examination in Home Economics & Sciences group will be admitted to the B.Sc. (Hons.) course in Food and Nutrition.
A total of 32 units (3200 marks) of courses are modified and distributed as followed as per regulations of the faculty of Biological Sciences, under, the University of Dhaka. Minor courses are compulsory for the students.
There will be a final examination at the end of each academic year for students in both theoretical and practical courses and results will be published as per regulation of the Controller of Examination, University of Dhaka.
The courses of B.Sc Honours 4 year program in Food & Nutrition have been selected from both, the Biological sciences, Physical sciences & Social Sciences.
The Course for B.Sc. Honours in Food & Nutrition extends over a period of four academic years. At 32 units of courses are distributed year wise as shown.

Examination rules for Major and Minor areas in 4 year Honours Program in Food & Nutrition:

The rules for conducting sessions is or in-course examination for 1st year honours are in accordance with the regulations of the Faculty of Biological Science, University of Dhaka.

They are as follows:


1) Each 1.0 unit course will have 60 lecture hours, composing 100 marks.

2) Each 0.5 unit course will have 30 lecture hours, composing 50 marks each.

3) For theoretical courses in major areas 20% marks are allocated for in-course assessments and the remaining 80% marks are reserved for final examination. There are two in-course examination for 1.0 unit & one in-course examination for 0.5 units.

4) For minor courses:

* There are no in-course examination for minor courses with practical.

* Each 1.0 unit course will have 80% of marks for theorical, 20% for practical.

* Each 0.5 unit course will have 40 marks for theoricals & 10 marks for practical.

* For minor courses without practical, 20% of marks will be used for taking 1 In-course examination.

5) For practical examinations in minor and major areas, 20% are allocated for class evaluation and the remaining 80% are to be evaluated in final examinations.

6) After each year final Examination, 50 marks is allotted for general Viva.

7) The duration of final year examination for 1unit 4 hours and for ½ unit is 1 hours.

8) If 'a student fails to appear in the In-course Examination there will be no supplementary examination.

9) At the end of one academic year, final examination will be held. If a student wishes to drop any paper, she should do so, by only appearing in the examination. If she fails in the paper, she can appear in it in the next year only. Only two papers can be dropped at a time.

10) There will be a final examination at the end of each year for all courses and a student has to secure minimum 25% of total marks in first year to pass, provided the student appears in all the courses. Any student who could not pass a course can only appear in the same course the following year only and not after that. For second and third year and the following year, a student has to secure minimum 36% of total marks to pass.

M.S. Course in Food & Nutrition


The curriculum for M.S. course in Food & Nutrition shall be offered over the period of one academic year. Students who have passed Hons. Examination in Home Economics (Food & Nutrition) will be admitted to the M.S. course in Food and Nutrition.
A total of 6 units (600 marks) of courses are modified and distributed as followed as per regulations of the faculty of Biological Sciences, under, the University of Dhaka. There will be a final examination at the end of academic year for students in both theoretical and practical courses and results will be published as per regulation of the Controller of Examination, University of Dhaka.
There will be six units for both Group-A (General) and Group-B (Thesis) Students.

Examination rules for M.S. Program in Food & N0utrition: The rules for conducting sessions for M.S. are in accordance with the regulations of the Faculty of Biological Science, University of Dhaka.

They are as follows:

1) Each 1.0 unit course will have 60 lecture hours, composing 100 marks.
2) Each 0.5 unit course will have 30 lecture hours, composing 50 marks each.
3) The duration of final year examination are 4 hours for 1.0 unit and 2.5 hours for 0.5 units.
4) For theoretical courses 20% marks are allocated for in-course assessments and the remaining 80% marks are reserved for final examination. There are two in-course examination for 1.0 unit & one in-course examination for 0.5 units.

5) If 'a student fails to appear in the In-course Examination there will be no supplementary examination.
6) For practical examinations, 20% are allocated for class evaluation and the remaining 80% are to be evaluated in final examinations.
7) In the final Examination, 50 marks is allotted for general Viva.
8) At the end of one academic year, final examination will be held.
9) A student has to secure minimum 36% of total marks to pass.

করিডরের এক প্রান্তে নওশীন ও তাঁর গ্রুপের সদস্যরা কাগজ, আঠা, রং দিয়ে নিবিষ্ট মনে কিছু একটা তৈরি করতে ব্যস্ত। রোদ এসে পড়ছে তাঁদের চোখ-মুখে। কিন্তু সেদিকে তাঁদের নেই কোনো ভ্রূক্ষেপ। একটু পরে গিয়ে দেখা গেল তাঁরা কাগজ আর কাঠের বোতাম দিয়ে মুহূর্তের মধ্যেই তৈরি করে ফেলেছেন সুদৃশ্য কয়েন বক্স। এর পাশের রুমেই চলছে মাটির ল্যাম্প এবং পাটের আঁশ দিয়ে ঘরের পর্দা তৈরির কাজ। মাটিকে বেলে, স্কেলের সাহায্যে পিটিয়ে ছুরি, ব্লেড দিয়ে আকৃতি দিয়ে তৈরি করা হচ্ছে দৃষ্টিনন্দন সব ল্যাম্প। আর পর্দা তৈরিতে ব্যবহার হচ্ছে পাটের আঁশের বেণি। রঙিন কাপড়ের ওপর আঠা, সুতা দিয়ে বসানো হচ্ছে নানা নকশার পাটের বেণি। চিত্র দুটি সরকারি গার্হস্থ্য অর্থনীতি কলেজের ব্যবহারিক শিল্পকলা বিভাগের শ্রেণীকক্ষের। এভাবেই এ কলেজের মেয়েদের সদা ব্যস্ত থাকতে হয় নানা সৃজনশীল ও সৃষ্টিশীল কাজে। আর এসব একাডেমিক জ্ঞান তাঁদের পেশাগত জীবন গড়তে সহায়তা করে। ‘অনেকেই মনে করেন, গার্হস্থ্য অর্থনীতি কলেজে মেয়েদের শুধু রান্নাবান্না শেখানো হয়। আদতে এমনটি নয়। ঘর-গৃহস্থালিবিষয়ক জ্ঞানের পাশাপাশি বিজ্ঞান, প্রযুক্তি, উদ্ভাবন, শিল্পকলা, তথা মননশীল নানা বিষয়ে এখান থেকে আমরা জ্ঞান অর্জন করতে পারছি।’ কথাগুলো বলছিলেন ব্যবহারিক শিল্পকলা বিভাগের এমএস শিক্ষার্থী শাহানা সুলতানা।
খাদ্য ও পুষ্টিবিজ্ঞান বিভাগ থেকে পড়ালেখা সম্পন্ন করে আইসিডিডিআরবিতে রিসার্চ ফেলো হিসেবে কর্মরত আছেন দেবযানী সরকার। তিনি জানান, ছোটবেলা থেকে মেডিকেলে পড়ার খুব ইচ্ছা ছিল। কিন্তু সেখানে সুযোগ না পেয়ে ভর্তি হই গার্হস্থ্য অর্থনীতি কলেজে। তবে মেডিকেলে পড়তে না পারার আফসোসটা এখন আর নেই।
অ্যাপোলো হাসপাতালের প্রধান ডায়েটিশিয়ান হিসেবে কর্মরত তামান্না চৌধুরী বলেন, ‘আমার মা পড়তেন গার্হস্থ্য অর্থনীতিতে। তাই ছোটবেলা থেকেই ওখানে পড়ার ইচ্ছা ছিল। গার্হস্থ্য অর্থনীতি কলেজে চান্স পাওয়ার পর যখন বিষয় নির্বাচনের ধাপটি এল, তখন ভাবলাম এমন একটি বিষয় নেব, যার জ্ঞান আমি ঘরে ও বাইরে দুই জায়গাতেই প্রয়োগ করতে পারব। এই ভেবে খাদ্য ও পুষ্টিবিজ্ঞান বিভাগে ভর্তি হই। এখন আমি আমার পেশাগত জীবনে একাডেমিক জ্ঞানগুলো কাজে লাগাতে পরি, পাশাপাশি পরিবারের সদস্যদের সঠিক, পরিমিত ও সুষম ডায়েট নিশ্চিত করতে সহায়তা করি। খুবই উপভোগ করি বিষয়টি। তবে শিক্ষার্থীদের স্নাতক শেষ করার পর ইন্টার্নশিপ করলে তাদের পেশাজীবন সম্পর্কে আগেই ধারণা হয়, যা তাদের চাকরির ক্ষেত্রে সহায়ক হয়।’ এমনটাই মনে করেন তামান্না চৌধুরী।

বিষয়ের খুঁটিনাটি
গার্হস্থ্য অর্থনীতি কলেজ মেয়েদের জন্য একটি পেশাভিত্তিক শিক্ষাপ্রতিষ্ঠান। ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের জীববিজ্ঞান অনুষদ এবং সরকারের শিল্প মন্ত্রণালয়ের সমন্বয়ে এর কার্যক্রম পরিচালিত হয়। গার্হস্থ্য অর্থনীতি কলেজের অধ্যক্ষ লায়লা আরজুমান্দ বানু জানান, এখানকার পাঠ্যক্রমের মূল উদ্দেশ্য একজন শিক্ষার্থীকে ব্যক্তিগত উন্নয়নের পাশাপাশি তাকে সমাজ ও পেশার জন্য প্রস্তুত করা। প্রতিটি বিষয়ের তত্ত্বীয়, ব্যবহারিক ও বিভিন্ন গবেষণা কার্যক্রম করানো হয় শিক্ষার্থীদের। যুগের সঙ্গে তাল মিলিয়ে আধুনিক প্রযুক্তি ও কলাকৌশল ব্যবহার করে বিভিন্ন বিষয়ে পারদর্শী করে তোলা হয় এখানকার শিক্ষার্থীদের।’

পঠন-পদ্ধতি
গার্হস্থ্য অর্থনীতি কলেজের শিক্ষা কার্যক্রম পরিচালিত হয় তিনটি স্তরে। উচ্চ মাধ্যমিক স্নাতক এবং স্নাতকোত্তর। ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের জীববিজ্ঞান অনুষদের অন্তর্ভুক্ত পাঠ্যক্রম অনুযায়ী এখানে পাঁচটি বিষয়ে চার বছর মেয়াদি স্নাতক কার্যক্রম এবং এক বছর মেয়াদি স্নাতকোত্তর কার্যক্রম চালু আছে। বিষয়গুলো হচ্ছে—১) খাদ্য ও পুষ্টিবিজ্ঞান, ২) বস্ত্র, পরিচ্ছদ ও বয়নশিল্প বিভাগ, ৩) শিশুবর্ধন ও সামাজিক সম্পর্ক, ৪) গৃহব্যবস্থাপনা ও গৃহায়ণ, ৫) ব্যবহারিক শিল্পকলা।
এ কলেজে স্নাতক পর্যায়ের জন্য ৩২০০ ক্রেডিট এবং স্নাতকোত্তর কার্যক্রমের জন্য ৬০০ ক্রেডিট পড়ানো হয়।
সর্বমোট ৩২ ইউনিটের পাঠ্যক্রমে মেজর ও মাইনর উভয় কোর্স আছে। প্রতি ইউনিট কোর্সের মান ১০০ এবং অর্ধ ইউনিট কোর্সের মান ৫০। মাইনর কোর্সগুলো প্রতিটি বিভাগের জন্য আবশ্যক।

পড়ার যোগ্যতা
স্নাতক পর্যায়ে পড়ার জন্য বিজ্ঞান শাখার শিক্ষার্থীদের জন্য এসএসসি ও এইচএসসি দুটোর জিপিএ কমপক্ষে ৬.৫০ হতে হবে। মানবিক শাখার জন্য এসএসসি ও এইচএসসি দুটোর জিপিএ লাগবে কমপক্ষে ৬.০০। কোনো পরীক্ষায় জিপিএ ৩.০০-এর কম হলে আবেদন করা যাবে না। আর যারা গার্হস্থ্য অর্থনীতি কলেজে উচ্চ মাধ্যমিক পাস করেছে, তাদের জন্য দুটো মিলে জিপিএ ৬.০০।

কর্মক্ষেত্রে সুযোগ
বস্ত্র, পরিচ্ছদ ও বয়নশিল্প বিভাগের সহকারী অধ্যাপক সানজিদা হক জানান, এখানকার পড়ালেখার সব বিষয়ই কর্মমুখী। এখানে একজন শিক্ষার্থীকে এমনভাবে তৈরি করা দেওয়া হয়, যাতে সে নিজেই অনুপ্রাণিত হয় কিছু করতে।
বিসিএস পরীক্ষায় গার্হস্থ্য অর্থনীতি কাজের মাধ্যমে প্রভাষক হিসেবে কাজের সুযোগ রয়েছে। এ ছাড়া বাংলাদেশের এনজিওগুলোতে মা ও শিশুস্বাস্থ্যবিষয়ক প্রকল্প, পুষ্টিবিষয়ক প্রতিষ্ঠান, হাসপাতালে পথ্যবিদ, স্বাস্থ্য ও পুষ্টি উপদেষ্টা, ক্যাটারিং ম্যানেজমেন্ট, ইন্টেরিয়র ডিজাইনার, ফ্যাশন ডিজাইনার, করপোরেট প্রতিষ্ঠান ব্যাংকসহ প্রায় সব ক্ষেত্রে কাজের সুযোগ রয়েছে। এ ছাড়া নিজ উদ্যোগে অনেকে উদ্যোক্তা হতে পারেন।

অন্যত্র পড়ার সুযোগ
গার্হস্থ্য অর্থনীতি কলেজ ছাড়াও এ বিষয়ে অন্যত্র পড়ার সুযোগ রয়েছে আরও কিছু জায়গায়। ন্যাশনাল কলেজ অব হোম ইকোনমিকস এবং বাংলাদেশ গার্হস্থ্য অর্থনীতি কলেজ এর মধ্যে অন্যতম। এ ছাড়া ব্র্যাক বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে শিশু বিষয়ে একটি বিভাগ রয়েছে, যেখান থেকে ডিপ্লোমা ও পিএইচডি দেওয়া হয়।
