About Home Economics:

Home economics (also known as family and consumer sciences, home science, home ec., and in some cases, human ecology) is the profession and field of study that deals with the economics and management of the home and community.

Home economics is a field of formal study including such topics as consumer education, institutional management, interior design, home furnishing, cleaning, handicrafts, sewing, clothing and textiles, commercial cooking, cooking, nutrition, food preservation, hygiene, child development, managing money, and family relationships. This teaches students how to properly run a family environment and make the world a better place for generations to come.

ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় জীব বিজ্ঞান অনুষদ:
১ঌ৪৭ সালে উদ্ভিদ বিজ্ঞান, প্রাণিবিদ্যা, মৃত্তিকা, পানি ও পরিবেশ, ফার্মেসী, প্রাণরসায়ন এবং মনোবিজ্ঞান বিভাগ নিয়ে জীববিজ্ঞান অনুষদ গঠিত হয়৷ ১ঌ৭ঌ সালে অনুজীব বিজ্ঞান বিভাগ নামে একটি বিভাগ, ১ঌঌ৭ সালে চিকিত্‌সা মনোবিজ্ঞান ও এ্যাকুয়াকালচার এন্ড ফিসারিজ নামে দুটি নতুন বিভাগ এবং ২০০০ সালে জেনেটিক ইঞ্জিনিয়ারিং এন্ড বায়োটেকনোলজি নামে আরও একটি নতুন বিভাগ এ অনুষদের অন্তর্ভূক্ত হয়েছে৷ ১ঌ৭৪-৭৫ শিক্ষাবর্ষ থেকে ১ঌঌ৭-ঌ৮ পর্যন্ত গার্হস্থ্য অর্থনীতি কলেজ কনস্টিটুয়েন্ট কলেজ হিসেবে অনুষদের সঙ্গে সম্পৃক্ত ছিল৷ বর্তমানে গার্হস্থ্য অর্থনীতি কলেজ, বাংলাদেশ গার্হস্থ্য অর্থনীতি কলেজ, ন্যাশনাল কলেজ অব হোম ইকোনমিক্স, ময়মনসিংহ গার্হস্থ্য অর্থনীতি কলেজ এই ৪টি অনুষদের অধিভুক্ত কলেজ৷ ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের সকল গার্হস্থ্য অর্থনীতি কলেজের ২০১৪-২০১৫ শিক্ষাবর্ষে বি.এসসি(সম্মান) কোর্সের ভর্তি পরীক্ষা ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের জীব বিজ্ঞান অনুষদের তত্ত্বাবধানে অনুষ্ঠিত হয়েছে। পৃথক গার্হস্থ্য ইউনিটে ভর্তি পরীক্ষাটি অনুষ্ঠিত হয়ে থাকে।
