Govt. College of Applied Human Science, Azimpur

 গভঃ কলেজ অব অ্যাপ্লাইড হিউম্যান সাইন্স (গার্হস্থ্য অর্থনীতি কলেজ) ১৯৬১ সালে প্রতিষ্ঠিত বাংলাদেশের একটি পেশাভিত্তিক মেয়েদের শিক্ষা প্রতিষ্ঠান। এটি আমেরিকার ফোর্ড ফাউন্ডেশন ও যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের ওকলাহামা স্টেট ইউনিভার্সিটির সহায়তায় ঢাকায় স্থাপিত হয়। বর্তমানে এটি ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়-এর অধীভুক্ত একটি কলেজ।

ইতিহাস

প্রথমে গার্হস্থ্য অর্থনীতি কলেজ ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের একটি উপাদানকল্প কলেজ হিসেবে কার্যক্রম শুরু করে। গ্রাজুয়েশন কোর্সের সিলেবাস ও নির্দেশিকা তৈরি করা হতো ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়, লাহোর হোম ইকনমিক্স কলেজ এবং করাচি হোম ইকনমিক্স কলেজের কোর্সসমূহের অনুসরণে। ওকলাহামা স্টেট ইউনিভার্সিটির হোম ইকোনমিক্স ডিপার্টমেন্টের ডীন ফোর্ড ফাউন্ডেশনের প্রতিনিধি হিসেবে কলেজটির একাডেমিক নির্দেশকের দায়িত্ব পালন করতেন।
১৯৬১ সাল থেকে কলেজে উচ্চ মাধ্যমিক ও স্নাতক এবং ১৯৬৩ সাল থেকে স্নাতকোত্তর পর্যায়ে পাঠদান শুরু হয়। ১৯৭৩ সালে স্নাতক ও স্নাতকোত্তর পর্যায়ের পাশাপাশি স্নাতক সম্মান (গার্হস্থ্য অর্থনীতি) কোর্স চালু হয়। ১৯৮৫-৮৬ শিক্ষাবর্ষে সমন্বিত গার্হস্থ্য অর্থনীতি থেকে ৫টি বিভাগে ৫টি সম্মান কোর্স চালু করা হয়। বিভাগগুলি হলো খাদ্য ও পুষ্টি বিজ্ঞান, গৃহব্যবস্থাপনা ও গৃহায়ণ, শিশুবিকাশ ও সামাজিক সম্পর্ক, ব্যবহারিক শিল্পকলা এবং বস্ত্র পরিচ্ছদ ও বয়ন শিল্প। ২০০২-২০০৩ শিক্ষাবর্ষ থেকে ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের সম্মান কোর্সে অনুরূপ ৪ বছর মেয়াদি স্নাতক সম্মান কোর্স এবং ১ বছর মেয়াদি স্নাতকোত্তর কোর্স চালু করা হয়।^[১]

  The College of Home Economics

  The College of Home Economics, Azimpur, Dhaka is a constituent college[1] of the University of Dhaka, which monitors its academic activities. The college is a government institution whose administrative & financial concerns are managed by the Ministry of Education of the Government of Bangladesh. 
  

  History

  American Ford Foundation & Oklahoma State University, USA and the government of East Pakistan started the college in the year 1961 with just twenty-five students. This is the first college of Bangladesh for studying Home Economics. Mrs Hamida Khanam was the founder principal of this college.^[2]
  

  Campus

  The college islocated at Azimpur, Dhaka having Total campus 10.3 acres of land. there are 21 classrooms, 5 seminar room, 8 laboratory, 1 Library etc.
  

  Courses

  Level of education is HSC, B.Sc (Hons.) & M.S. there are 5 Honours Department. This corses are conducted under Biology Faculty of the University of Dhaka.

  There are five^[3] departments in five major area of home econmics:-

• 2. Home management and Housing
• 3. Child Development and Social Relationship
• 4. Related Art
• 5. Clothing and Textile

Admission

B.Sc: Admission test is conducted by Faculty of Biological Science of University of Dhaka. Students give separate admission test for Home Economics Unit. 1000 students can get admitted each year for B.Sc Course in this college.^[4][5][6] There is seperate admission test for HSC admission.
